This type of town developed on the coast of East Africa, further expanded under Arab, Indian, and European influences, but retained its indigenous elements, to form an urban cultural unit unique to this region.
The Stone Town of Zanzibar retains its urban fabric and townscape virtually intact and contains many fine buildings that reflect its particular culture, which has brought together and homogenized disparate elements of the cultures of Africa, the Arab region, India, and Europe over more than a millennium.
Shoki Shoki Hostel opened in June 2022 in the heart of the old part of Stone Town. We are based in an old but fully renovated building in Soko Muhogo Street.
Our new hostel has been created due to high demand of budget travellers in Zanzibar City. We have 16 beds in mixed dormitories and 3 private rooms where we can accommodate up to 24 Guests.
On every floor we built nice and clean shared bathrooms. Every Guest has access to the big shared kitchen equipped with plates and basic devices. Every room is AIR CONDITIONED, we offer daily housekeeping service, towels, free WiFi and unlimited drinking water for every our Guest !
